Beginning Knitting
Tues., July 13 and 20, 10;30 am-12:30 pm
Learn to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases and read a simple pattern. We'll decode yarn labels and abbreviations and get you going on a scarf!
Instructor: Jane Dickinson
Cost: $45, includes book

Continental Knitting
Mon., July 19, 6-8 pm
Learn to knit left-handed for increased speed and easier Fair Isle knitting. It's a nice alternative for lefties, but righties benefit, too! Add this important tool to your knitting workshop.
Instructor: Karen
Cost: $25
Knitting 201:
Resolution Collar
Tues., July 6, 13 AND 20,  6-8 pm

Resolution #1: I resolve to be a better knitter. Making a stylish neck warmer, we'll study cast ons, cables, short rows, increases and decreases, fixing mistakes and finishing. We'll spend three weeks on this small project because we'll work to understand everything we do. Students should be competent at knit and purl, with a few complete projects to their names, and be ready to be "the boss of their knitting," in the words of knitting legend Elizabeth Zimmerman.

Mitered Edging

Mon., July 12 AND 19, 6-8 pm

This is a lace edging found in an old German magazine.  It is added to a center piece and could be worked in fine thread on a handkerchief center or added to a knitted center for a lovely receiving blanket in fingering or DK yarn.  The border has a leaf pattern moving along the edges and then down to pointed corners that are mitered to make the meeting of the edges graceful and interesting.  Lace experience required.

Instructor: Cindy

Cost: $40

Socks
Thurs., July 1, 8 AND 15, 6-8 pm
Why knit socks?  1. Unlike store-bought socks, hand knit socks are wonderful to wear - they don't have seams.  2. Socks are a great take-along project - leave that huge afghan you've almost completed at home.  3. You learn important techniques you'll use again and again.  This class will connect you with millions of sock knitters past and present as you learn to make a traditional top-down sock with our sock wizard, Cindy.

Cost: $55
