knitting and crochet resources Here's
a list of websites with useful information for knitters and crocheters.
Some have chat, some have basic instruction. Check out our free
patterns page, too. There's a whole lotta stitchin' goin' on!
New to our website in 2010 is a link to a downloadable knitting font designed by AKP customer Carol Taylor. Use it to come up with your own charts, whether it's something you design yourself or a pattern lacking charts of its own.
Ravelry http://www.ravelry.com/ This indispensable site has become a wonderful tool for knitters and crocheters with lots and lots of free patterns. It offers a way to index your planned projects, along with a stash and needle or hook inventory. It has chat, blog connectons and so much content you won't know where to start!
Knitting Help http://www.knittinghelp.com/ Lots of helpful information and videos of techniques will keep you on track in between classes.
The Knit Witch http://www.youtube.com/user/theknitwitch#p/a/u/1/CrpJ5cXy2yg The Knit Witch offers helpful tutorials on YouTube -- the link above takes you to a lesson in wet blocking, which is the favorite method of many experienced knitters. The Knit Witch website features many more videos. The production isn't professional and details can be hard to see, but this is still a terrific resource for knitters.
DenverKnits web group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DenverKnits/ "This group is for anyone interested in knitting, spinning, etc. in the Denver area. You don't have to live in Denver, but be interested in what's going on in this area." http://www.knittingabout.com/ Knitting.about has everything from basic instructions to free patterns -- but watch out for annoying pop-ups!
http://www.knittersreview.com/ This free weekly newsletter with yarn reviews and forums organized by topic is a fun way to see what's new. http://www.glittyknittykitty.co.uk/ Be sure to visit glittyknittykitty, the headquarters of militant knittivism and one of the many wonderful blogs on knitting.
