Feather and Fan Tues., July 26, 6-8 pm This classic and and ancient stitch pattern will teach you the basics of lace knitting at its most approachable level. Simple variations and textures of yarn make it endlessly interesting, a worthy choice for almost any project -- pick a wash cloth, guest towel, scarf or stole. This class will get you started reading your knitting and knowing how to fix basic mistakes. It's perfect for beginners who know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. Knitting 201: Resolution Collar Tues., June 14, 21 and 28, 6-8 pm Mon., Aug. 15, 22, 29, 6-8 pm Making a stylish neck warmer, we'll study cast ons, cables, short rows, increases and decreases, fixing mistakes and finishing.We'll spend three weeks on this small project because we'll work to understand everything we do. Students should be competent at knit and purl, with a few complete projects to their names, and be ready to be "the boss of their knitting," in the words of knitting legend Elizabeth Zimmerman.

Socks Mon., June 13, 20 and 27, 6-8 pm In this three-session class, you will knit a classic sock beginning at the cuff and ending at the toe. You will learn several new skills -- knitting on doublepointed needles, slipping stitches, picking up stitches, making short rows, making symmetrical decreases, and grafting.
